Growing Tree

Growing Tree, a 5 Star, nationally accredited infant and toddler program, and part of WNMU Early Childhood Programs, is located on the campus of Silver Opportunity High School.  Growing Tree serves the children of Silver High and Opportunity School teen parents, as well as WNMU students.

Growing Tree’s priority is to provide a quality early learning experience for infants and toddlers whose parents are attending high school and/or college.  It also serves as a lab site for all of WNMU students and is located on the campus of the Silver Opportunity High School.

Admissions

How To Access the Program

The following steps outline the process and procedure for families to access the programs:

  • Information received from families is entered into an electronic system sort by date of contact and children are placed on a waiting list.
  • When an opening is available, the administrative team notifies the family to let them know of the availability.
  • Once the family accepts, they are asked to come in to complete the admissions paperwork.  Information about the program is provided to the families at the time of registration.
  • Pregnant teens, or teens with children aged 6 weeks to 3 years of age, may contact the Growing Tree Site Supervisor, Monica Lucero, directly at 575-388-1289 to discuss availability.

Requirements

First priority for all child care openings at the Growing Tree site are for full time high school students.  Full time WNMU students would be contacted should any other openings be available.  Additional openings are rare, but should they occur, part time students, followed by Silver School employees, would be contacted.
